Bill Burke first discovered woodworking when his past horticulture jobs required him to construct sheds or maintain greenhouses. Once confident with his hands he started building banjos.
Wanting to take his craft further, he applied and was accepted in the HCC Professional Crafts Program outside of Ashville, NC. There he was exposed to many different style and types of woodworking but has been drawn to the Shaker designs over the others.
Bill is inspired by the straightforward design and simple elegance of the Shaker craftsmen. He also has found the joy of using the same hand tools as well. Using hand tools to build piece furniture leaves the mark of the craftsman both physically and spiritually. And Bill’s pieces put on display his love for the craft.
